OUTLINE PROPOSAL FOR PACT COORDINATED SUPPORT FROM LOCAL CHURCHES TO UKRAINIAN REFUGEES IN PETERSFIELD

The proposal is to have a place in Petersfield where Ukrainian refugees can meet during the day, for a variety of purposes:-

  • – Refreshment e.g. lunch
  • – Social interaction and mutual support
  • – Interaction with or advice as to how to interact with local services e.g. schooling, health services, social services.
  • – Education of children still in Ukrainian language and culture (dependent on adult refugees)
  • – Spiritual care

Liaison with the following organisation is suggested:-

  • – EHDC
  • – District council
  • – Town Council
  • – Refugee council

Requirements at each involved site:-

  • – Safeguarding
  • – Supervision/ caretaking
  • – Programme
  • – Spiritual input

Benefits:-

  • – Enabling for Petersfield residents with the space but not the time to take in/ care for Ukrainian refugees;
  • – Facilitation/ enablement of Ukrainian refugees to self-care;
  • – Petersfield Christians and churches to clearly show their response to Christ’s call.
