OUTLINE PROPOSAL FOR PACT COORDINATED SUPPORT FROM LOCAL CHURCHES TO UKRAINIAN REFUGEES IN PETERSFIELD
The proposal is to have a place in Petersfield where Ukrainian refugees can meet during the day, for a variety of purposes:-
- – Refreshment e.g. lunch
- – Social interaction and mutual support
- – Interaction with or advice as to how to interact with local services e.g. schooling, health services, social services.
- – Education of children still in Ukrainian language and culture (dependent on adult refugees)
- – Spiritual care
Liaison with the following organisation is suggested:-
- – EHDC
- – District council
- – Town Council
- – Refugee council
Requirements at each involved site:-
- – Safeguarding
- – Supervision/ caretaking
- – Programme
- – Spiritual input
Benefits:-
- – Enabling for Petersfield residents with the space but not the time to take in/ care for Ukrainian refugees;
- – Facilitation/ enablement of Ukrainian refugees to self-care;
- – Petersfield Christians and churches to clearly show their response to Christ’s call.
