24 August – Rev’d Alison Waterhouse, St Mary’s, Buriton

Peace and tranquillity

It is my pleasure to serve both the communities of Buriton and Petersfield, at St Mary’s Buriton and St Peter’s church in Petersfield.

It is wonderful to live and work in community with you all.

There is lots to look forward to, at St Mary’s Buriton there is the last of our Cream teas Sundays from 2pm on the 28th August, then a piano recital on the Sunday 8th October at 2.30pm. There is the Church fete at St Peter’s in Petersfield on Saturday 9th September from 10am until 2pm.

Recently, I was reflecting on the busyness of our daily lives, each of us working, cooking, cleaning, gardening, shopping, looking after our loved ones or striving to live independent lives. There is often little chance to find peace and silence in our lives, especially with the amount of media available to us, mobile phones, televisions and computers.

Jesus led a busy life, walking, spreading Christianity from the very earliest Christian communities, he sometimes would take himself away from the crowds, up on mountains, to find peace to be with his Father.

I pray that you may find sometime in the coming weeks for peace and tranquillity, to be able to recharge your batteries, amongst your work, School holidays and the daily getting on with living, may God bless you all in your endeavours.
