Matters Arising from meeting of 10th March

1. Cards: The Easter cards were successfully bundled, with many volunteers making the work quick. Thank you to all who helped.

2. Christmas Lunch: Help for homeless. A further donation of £50.00, from PACT funds, was made to Julia Hirst as requested in our last meeting. Julia's thank you letter was read to the group. Christmas Day Lunch meeting will take place on 17th July

3. Food Bank: Since the last meeting there had been a good supply of food and an increased demand. Brian was in ongoing contact with Antrobus Chartered Accounts, who are making the food bank the charity of the year. Two groups had donated a large quantity of Easter eggs! Brian was steadily distributing these. We suggested Messy Church may be able to make use of some.

Since the last meeting a cash donation of £94.90 had been received, together with £80 donations into the PACT food bank account. £500.00 had been withdrawn for food purchases, leaving £1,293.65 in the PACT account.

Brian had purchased £150 worth of gift vouchers, was given £5 gift vouchers, issued £245 worth and had £145 remaining.
He used £189.23 to purchase the needed items. There was £528.25 cash in hand.

FOOD ISSUES. Since the last meeting there had been 41 issues of food helping 56 adults and 33 children.

These issues were initiated by: .

Drum/Radian 8   Action for Children(formerly Sure Start) 7   Winton House 0
C.A.B 6   Home Start 0   Job centre 5
S.A 12   Tree tops 0   Action for children 9
East Hants Advocacy Team 0   HM Prison service 0   Youth crime prevention team 0
Kings Arms 0   In Touch 1
Community Treatment Team 1   Havant Mental Health Team 0   Heath Children's Centre 1

There had been 730 issues since Sept. 2010 helping 1690 adults /children

Could people such as Health visitors/District nurses who go regularly into people's homes be linked up with the food bank?

4. Soup Run: The trial of this started on March 31st. It ran weekly on a Monday evening. The take up was rather low, about 2 or 3 people. Marika made home made soup and so little was used from the food bank. A donation had been made to the soup run from which £50.00 had been paid to the PACT insurer which eventually agreed to provide cover after receiving all the risk assessment and other documents.

5. Prayer Meetings: We should ask Patsy Robinson about the monthly prayer meeting for the chaplaincy. The PACT prayer meeting is held monthly on the first Thursday, 2pm, at 28 Moggs Mead

Care for Elderly Articles in the Petersfield Post highlighted the following:

a) Those delivering Meals on Wheels were being encouraged to spend about 30 minutes with clients

b) Five elderly people interviewed at St Peter's Refresh cafe (Word on the Street) were very satisfied with the range activities offered in Petersfield. These, of course, were active folks who were prepared to leave their homes and meet people.

c) A Bordon Charity, TLC, (Tending, Listening, Caring) wants to recruit more people from Petersfield to give their time and befriend house bound people. Volunteers donate up to three hours per week to have a cuppa and chat, take someone for a walk, or give respite to the family carer. TLC can be contacted on 01420 477231 or volunteer@hospiceservices.org.uk

d) Walking for Health is good for social interaction as well as physical activity. Walks take place in Buriton on Mondays, Petersfield (Winton House)on Wednesdays, and Half Moon sheet on Fridays.
