Present: Hilary Bonney (Chair), Sue Bone, Judith Peake, Christine Tully, Brian Edwards, Joanna Fells.

Apoplogies: Elisabeth Holmes.

Hilary opened the meeting with a brief devotion and prayer
New Members: We still did not yet have reps from the unrepresented churches, namely Steep, Froxfield and Buriton. Hilary would send emails to Rev John Owen and Rev Judith Bee. Representation was even more important now that the Christmas lunch arrangements were being discussed.

Matters Arising from meeting of 12th May

1. Christmas Lunch: The first planning meeting would be held on Thurs 17th July 12.30pm at St Peter’s church. A representative from each church is needed. It would be good if more helpers had a food hygiene certificate to enable more people to serve the food. Community First were running one soon. Hilary to send out details of this.

2. Food Bank: Since the last meeting there had been a reasonable supply of food but the demand had increased even more! Brian needed to buy food to cover the shortfall. Churches should note that there were plentiful stocks of beans, soup and pasta, but washing up liquid, long life milk, sugar, toilet rolls, tinned potatoes, tinned meat, spaghetti, drinking chocolate were needed.

Since the last meeting a cash donation of £15 had been received, together with a £20 cheque and a donation of £40 into the PACT food bank account. £500.00 had been withdrawn for food purchases, leaving £835.65 in the PACT account.
Brian had purchased £200 worth of gift vouchers, issued £140 worth and had £180 remaining.
He used £152.25 to purchase the needed food items and £20 to replace a shelf. There was £621.00 cash in hand including the £500.00 just handed over from the PACT account.

FOOD ISSUES. Since the last meeting there had been 37 issues of food helping 50 adults and 30 children. These issues were initiated by: Drum/Radian 5; C.A.B. 8; S.A. 7; Action for Children(formerly Sure Start) 2; Job centre 4; Adult Mental Health etc. Petersfield 7; Tree tops 2; ; Havant children’s service 1; Havant Substance Abuse 1. There had been 767 issues since Sept. 2010 helping 1769 adults /children.

3 Soup Run. Not many homeless people used this service, but some liked to come for a chat. Those running it wished to continue,

Any other business:

From the Petersfield Post of 25th June we learned that volunteers are needed for:

a) Shopmobility (central Car Park). One or two half days per month, full training given. Contact Alan Rushton 267512 (wrong telephone number in Petersfield Post)

b) Fitzroy’s summer club for young people with learning disabilities. Help for several days per week between Aug 5-19. No experience required. Full training given. A superb opportunity for young people considering a career in social care.
Date and venues of next meeting The next meeting will be held on Sept 1st at 10am at 25 Castle Garden. It was proposed that we go for a short prayer walk after the meeting and end with coffee in the Pop in Club.
