Annual Report for Social Concerns 2014

The Social Concerns Group is made up of a representative from most of the churches in PACT. In November we were very pleased to welcome Isabel Chambers from St Mary's Buriton.

We meet bi-monthly to pray and talk through any issues that arise from our churches and the wider Community.

We regularly monitor the Food Bank ;this year The Soup Run and discuss issues of homelessness, loneliness and isolation.

We pick up on information highlighted in the Petersfield Post and we are a " Fly on the wall" having a supporting role and a communication link with the churches in the organisation of the Christmas Day Lunch.

Christmas Day Lunch 2014 was organised for the 3rd year by Katie Wigley with our support and that of Hattie and Rev Will Hughes.

The meal was enjoyed by 60 people (a shortfall on last year of 20) and ably prepared by Marika Kyovska. Our thanks go to all those who played their part to make it a success.

Special thanks go to newcomers Rev Max Cross, his wife Susie and daughters who were pro active as welcomers and table hosts and engaged in other activities where needed.

We are resolved to make sure that in the coming year through better communication in our churches;advertising in the Petersfield Post and by invitation we reach more of the younger elderly and people on their own in Petersfield and the surrounding villages in 2015.
