Annual Report for The Soup Run 2014

For the purpose of the AGM we feel now is the time to reflect on the last nine months of the Soup Run. If we only set out to offer food and drink to homeless people, then it may be seen by some, as a project that is not necessarily needed in the Petersfield area. However we have found that far from being a worthless adventure, our Monday nights on the square in front of St. Peters Church have provided great blessings to both us and others.

We commenced this for a trial period of three months, nine months later we are still out on Monday evenings being church in the community.  Back in November we thought this might have to cease because of lack of helpers however, thanks to the ministers re-advertising the soup run we now have a number of people who came forward to offer their services and are now on the rota.  This is great news as we can now continue forward into 2015.

This started out for homeless people, which in the early months was the case but it has now evolved and anyone in the community who needs company, conversation, a listening ear, a cup of homemade soup (which I must add is very tasty) tea/coffee will be made very welcome.

During the months we have been running the soup run we have got to know each other and have found that we enjoy a time of fellowship that is both rich in the Lord and uplifting for us as a group. I do believe that God has blessed this work and wants it to continue, as it’s a great way of taking the Fathers love into our community and letting people know that our Lord and Saviour Jesus is alive and there for them.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has given up a few hours on a Monday evening for this worthwhile cause.  If you would like to support the soup run but feel unable to come out on a Monday evening I would suggest that between the hours of 6.00pm and 8.30pm you pray for the volunteers and the people they will be coming into contact with.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support.
