Annual Report for Holiday Club 2012

The Petersfield School, Monday 30th July to Friday 3rd August 2012.

PACT Holiday Club was held at the Petersfield School from Monday 30th July – Friday 3rd August with the theme “Church, God’s Brilliant Idea”. Local members of the clergy -  Will Hughes, Peter Hollins, Linda Read, Tom James and John Callaghan -  led the morning talks, with Lyndsey from Fiddlesticks and her team leading the singing.

On the Wednesday, part of the Club was focusing on loving our communities, and the children were extremely generous in their offerings to the Petersfield Foodbank.

The Holiday Club is divided into two sections – under 8’s and Juniors – and the Juniors choose one activity that they focus on for the week, which they then present to the under 8’s and families on the Friday. The Drama was led and written by Rosie Greene, Dance was led by Ellie Brown, Sports by Lauren Preston from the King’s Arms and Art led by Belinda Shaw. Over 50 Junior children attended the week.

There were 45 junior children across the different activities.

The under 8’s is prepared in a Messy Church-style, with 10 activities each day and also Playball, Fiddlesticks and Hands On Science sessions. Each day there were plenty of opportunities for the children to do a huge variety of craft activities as well as attending Fiddlestick sessions with Lyndsey Gilbey and Playball sessions led by Kerrie Elsom and her team. Some of the older children were given the chance to do some science with a local scientist Dr Phil Jupp.

We had 81 families attend the Messy Church sessions during the week with an average of 95 children attending these each day. In total we had 101 families signed up for Holiday Club divided across the age groups – and over 80 adults attending daily.

PACT Holiday Club is supported by volunteers from the local churches, and this year we had support from some Guides as well and without this support the event couldn’t have run. Also a huge thank you to the Petersfield School for allowing us to use their premises, to Travis Perkins for the materials they provided and also to TJays for providing the inflatable and soft play fun on the Friday.
