Minutes of the Co-ordinating Committee Meeting held in
The Salvation Army Hall, on Wednesday, 8 February 2012, at 7:30 pm

Purpose of meeting: A forum for ‘communion’ and communication between PACT churches, PACT organisations and local Christians, to facilitate events aimed at increasing opportunities for joint worship, witness and work between PACT churches.
Present: Rosemary Davies; Anderson Marsh; John Callaghan; Simon Mason; Christine Tulley; Will Hughes; Hilary Bonney; Stephen Field;

  2. Apologies for absence; Linda Young; Linda Read; Linda Cawsey; Emma Dean;

  3. Minutes for 2 November; were signed as an accurate record of the meeting.

  4. Reports on events since our last meeting: Carol Service was well attended we were delighted to be welcomed at St. Peter’s Church. Christmas lunch needs a whole new team asap. We need to advertise on the web site and in the newsletter. AGM was very much approved of the review of the year and Rosemary’s Induction at the Unity service.

  5. Lent groups:  Committee approved of all the hard work and the variety of provision was appreciated.

  6. Easter cards: Winning entry has been chosen, all churches have been asked for details of their services, cards will be packed Monday 12 or Thursday 15 March, Christine Tulley to facilitate.

  7. Good Friday:  Council contacted, band booked, Rams walked notified.  Please can we print sufficient service sheets suggest 300. Please could Chaplaincy assist with moving the crowd.  Will suggested an onsite preplanning meeting. Anderson will contact Sheet School to borrow a megaphone.

  8. Financial report: need to approve which month to count church numbers to allocate a fair contribution from each member church, need to count ‘attendance to worship’ in February. Also a retiring offering to help raise funds for Engage. Christine is also happy for the food bank to use the PACT account.  John said that the Chaplaincy also faced a problem of the high cost of setting up a bank account.

  9. Proposed future dates and events:   Christian Aid week, every house will be contacted. These people are currently involved: Maggie Burton-Page, Sally Smith, Robin Hart, Hattie Hughes, Brian Edwards, Sally Francis, Violet Snell. Who has the map for distribution? Future  Committee meetings Wednesday 21 March (change) Wednesday 13 June, Wednesday 5 Sept, Wednesday 31 Oct (change also change venue), AGM 2013 Wednesay 23 Jan.

  10. Chairman’s notices: Evangelical Church no longer officially linked to PACT. Tom Norgate from the Methodists concerned with errors in the Herald newspaper, Rosemary was delegated to sort out the corrections. The bookshop is staying open! Linda Clyst, St. Mary’s Sheet, has published ‘old bed new bed’ a book about homelessness explained for younger children.

  11. Chairman’s item:  Many Churches have only a few teenagers attending. Rosemary is keen to promote BLAZE on a Friday night at the King’s Arms everyone welcome.  There is also an idea for a worship weekend and a camp.

  12. Any other business:  

    Queens Diamond Jubilee
    , raised by Stephen Field. Monday 4 June. One of the main events will be making lanterns and any group wishing to make lanterns will receive support with the making, materials will be supplied, schools will be making lanterns. Would the churches like to have a section of the procession with banners and flags. Perhaps from the Square behind the traction engine from the square approximately 2:00 pm. Suggest churches make an effort to stand together at this time.

    How else can the Churches get involved?  Charities will be welcome to put up a stall? 11:15 service in the square. Will to put together a PACT celebration and burying a time capsule.

    Sunday St. Peter’s will have Sunday afternoon tea, cakes and celebration. Please bring back ideas to the next meeting.

    Olympic Torch:
    Petersfield has been selected to host the Torch Relay for the London 2012 Olympic Games on Monday 16 July (Day 56). LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games & Paralympics Games) will release further information eight weeks before the event.     Prayer Impact: Anderson will be contacting people about Prayer Impact. Concern that several churches are not represented and we want to be churches together.

    Dawn Services on Easter Sunday are held by many churches, the Heath is not the only venue! Any photos of what we do as churches should be included on the web site.
