Christian Comment

The Christian Comment column appears in the Petersfield Post which is published every Wednesday. Copy should be delivered to the Post on the first dates shown below for publication on the second dates.

Copies of Christian Comments are published on the PACT web site on the day of newspaper publication and it is a great help if you could email a copy to the PACT webmaster at the same time as the articles are sent to the Post. Copies can be sent by email in Word format or in the body of an email to: webmaster@pact.org.uk.

CHURCH CONTRIBUTIONS TO PETERSFIELD HERALD FOR 2012 - 2013

  1. In order to try and avoid our articles being cut by the editors, I suggest we keep them to a maximum of 250 words in length. The headings are Christian Comment in the Petersfield Post and Friday Focus for the Petersfield Herald.  I also suggest you provide your own heading to the article (although the editors do seem keen to exercise their own choice).

  2. At the top of each page include the author’s name and contact number and the date for publication.  The article should be typed and should be signed off with the author’s name and church.

  3. The newspapers prefer to receive the article by email and it is as well to ask for confirmation of receipt (usually ignored). The email address for The Post is graeme.moir@thepost.co.uk and for the Herald it is petersfield.herald@tindlenews.co.uk  Contact name for the Herald is Paul Ferguson on 263585.  If your contributor does not have access to email, perhaps arrangements could be made via your church administrator for the article to be typed and emailed to the newspaper concerned.  They will accept hard copy but under sufferance.  Please note that the Herald office has moved and is now to be found at Petersfield Herald, Ground Floor, Rear Office, 16 Lavant Street, Petersfield, GU32 3EW.

  4. Both the Comment and Focus appear on the PACT website.  Please would you email a copy to go on the PACT website at the same time you send it to the newspaper.  The webmaster is John Studd and should be emailed to him at john.studd@pact.org.uk.  If you do not have email, please would you send a copy to John Studd at 64 Moggs Mead, Petersfield, GU31 4NX.

  5. Our churches in the Petersfield area are unique in having the co-operation of both of our local newspapers and it is therefore vital that we seek to make their task as easy as possible. The main reason either newspaper fails to print our articles is that we have either missed the deadline or forgotten it is our turn.  If you know you cannot produce an article, as a last resort please would you let me know (in good time). I do try to send our reminders prior to the start of each month but, if you have difficulty in remembering it is your turn, I can try to act as an alarm clock provided I know you want me to assist.  My contact phone no. is 01730.269867 or email cawsey.alin@virgin.net  (Linda Cawsey).
