A Light for my Path

Recently, we resurfaced the footpaths where we live. Cracks and potholes had developed on the old paths; also a tree root had pushed up the surface in one place, which is also dark, making me wary of stumbling, especially at night.

I was quite excited, the first time I walked on the new pathways. Yet, at the same time, I felt strangely unsettled. I began to realize that I had grown used to the familiar, old path. The new have a different camber and smoothness even though still dark. As I walked up to my front door, one night, some words from Psalm 119 came to me, ‘Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path’, so I began to reflect on what God might be telling me.

I believe that God requires us, His children, to step out of our comfort zone, on a path that we would never have otherwise chosen. It is not an easy one, by any means. We do not know whether our way ahead will be bumpy or smooth, or to what unfamiliar places we will travel. We can only grope blindly by ourselves, and are likely to stumble and fall. Yet our Father, God, knows where He wants us to go and will guide us with His Word, the Bible. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be The Light of the World, because of His great love for us. If we follow Him, He will light the way ahead, so we may never fear.

For the path to my front door, I can use my Smartphone.
