The beauty of the ordinary

In the last few months two of my dear friends have died very unexpectedly. In reading and listening to what people said about them I have come to the conclusion that I am a very bog standard, maybe even boring individual!

I have no great accomplishments to attach to my name. I have no note worthy skills. I would not describe myself as beautiful. I am, in fact, a very ordinary individual.

However, the scriptures that I read in my faith tells me that I am unique, that there is no-one like me. That the God I believe in knew all about me before I was even a twinkle in my parents’ eye. He believes me to be extraordinary. He looks on me and sees beauty, a skill set that is not only noteworthy but unique because only I will be the only person ever to use these skills.

So can I encourage all of you who feel that you are bog standard ordinary that you are in fact the most wonderfully uniquely ordinary individual that can be, that you are in fact the most skilled and equipped person for where you are and what you are doing and no matter what you think or feel, you are the most beautiful person that you can be.

The next Men's Breakfast at Hurst Barn will be on Saturday 4th May; the next Petersfield Christian Men's Group meeting will be on Monday 13 May
